Coach Pathway to UKCC
Update courses for all levels will be available through the LTA at the end of 2007. The LTA Coach Education department have announced that the lack of a UKCC qualification will not affect a coach’s ability to obtain/retain an LTA licence for the forseeable future.
The first UKCC qualification is now taking place throughout the country. The Level 1 Coaching Assistant qualification enables successful candidates to help licensed coaches with mini tennis sessions. These assistants are not qualified to work on their own but may lead a session under the supervision of a licensed coach.
The Level 2 is scheduled to come in later this year and will enable a successful candidate to call themselves a coach and work on their own as a registered coach. A registered coach is likely to have similar benefits as a licensed coach such as public liability insurance.
We have been informed by the LTA Coach Education Department that there will not now be a level 5 for UKCC. This means that the PCA qualification will not be part of the UKCC structure but will be a seperate entity in its own right.
Further details are available from the LTA on 020 8487 7000.
