NON-MEMBERS
New National Survey for Coaches
It is clear from the correspondence we get and feedback we are given at the roadshows that there is a need for a comprehensive look at how we as a profession operate and a need to identify the challenges coaches face for the future.
The results of the survey will enable us to publish a snapshot of our industry and determine how we can best support coaches and assistants in Britain. The survey will become an annual event and provide us with the ability to monitor our profession very closely.
Here are some of the areas the survey will be investigating:
Pay
Rates of pay, based on qualification, experience and location. What should/is a coach charging based on these three factors?
Contracts
What are the percentages working as employed, self-employed, with/without contracts?
Working Conditions
What benefits does a coach receive as part of their job/role? How many coaches have to pay for courts/ give free coaching time?
Environment
How many coaches work at clubs/centres/own sites - what is the breakdown?
Training
What do coaches think of the courses on offer? How could they be improved? What types of courses do coaches want to see?
Certification
What do coaches think of how they were trained - did the qualification provide them with a solid understanding that was useful and practical?
LTA/PTR/RPT
What do those coaches who have taken qualifications from more than one organisation think were the differences, good and bad?
BTCA
What do coaches think of our service? Where can we improve - what are we getting right/wrong? Is the roadshow concept delivering something useful for tennis coaches?
LTA
What do coaches think of the direction the LTA is taking? How is it affecting your working environment? What do you think of their communication with you?
LTA Licence
Are you licensed? What do you think of the scheme? How could it be improved?
County Support
What do you think of the support you get from the BTCA at county level? What would you like to see? Do you know how your county support money is spent?
County LTA
What do you think of your local LTA office? Does it provide you with what you need to perform your job well?
This list is by no means exhaustive and we are confident that the results will provide us with an accurate and comprehensive snapshot of the current state of our industry.
The results of the survey will be published annually in our new handbook and provide coaches with a unique view of coaching both nationally and in their region/county.
We will also have some fantastic prizes to encourage you all to participate, including free holidays and coaching equipment!
We would like to hear from you now to ensure that we ask all the right questions so please let us know what you would like to see in the survey! We plan to send out the survey in July and collect the results over the following three months.
